Did you know that for an easy 1.5 hour drive from Orange County you can find yourself surrounded by trees in a small town called Wrightwood? In the Winter time, the town can get pretty crowded filled with local OC/LA folks boarding between the two Mt. High resorts. One named Mt. High East and Mt. High West. There is a Mt. High North that is for tubing and some other activities but not really sure since I’ve never been there.
I’ve visited the mountain many times for snowboarding. My friend teaches at the resort so I’ve had the pleasure of riding around on my board here when I don’t feel like driving further.
This time, I was visiting in the summer time. The drive was nice, and being surrounded by nature is always a job for me. Sometimes you just need to get away and a short quick getaway is just the thing!

Some things to do in or around Wrightwood.
Farmers Market | Fridays 4-7pm
Camping | Table Mountain Campground – I camped here back around 2012 or so with a small group. We were camping in the area to go zip lining which is unfortunately now closed.
Hiking | I’ve done the Devil’s Punchbowl hike but wanted to see the Big Horn Mine too. I haven’t been able to get a chance to go back but hopefully will soon enough. The Devil’s backbone is not easy but it’s great. The top is amazing and beautiful. If I get a chance to write about it, I definitely will. The Devils Punchbowl is not directly in Wrightwood, about 30 minutes drive but easy and there was no problem with reception on the way up.
