Fall is in full effect here in Seattle and honestly time has been passing so fast, I somehow didn’t notice the significant drop in temperature. Luckily, the rain hasn’t made it’s daily presence yet so I’m still enjoying the beautiful weather here. I’ve made it a point to get outside everyday so I don’t stay cooped up inside my home. Going for walks, walking to the nearby market, going out to run errands and of course meeting up with my bf are all great reasons to get out. It doesn’t help that the days are short and getting dark so early. Since about mid- October, I made a plan to lose about 5 lbs of body fat so I’m sticking to my plan.

My acupuncturist is back from China, so I can continue my treatment for tendinitis. I’ve been applying Dit Da Jow as recommended by my acupuncturist and it has been helping. It helps aid for anti-inflammatory purposes. I have been keeping a daily workout routine which has been giving me a very positive feeling of energy everyday. It isn’t always yoga though, I do practice poses everyday but sometimes it is 30 minutes and sometimes it’s only a few poses. Other days, I’m walking outside, inside or doing other workouts that do not involve any use of my arms.

A recent purchase on amazon is the yoga wheel. I purchased it because I saw an Instagrammer use it to aid in handstands. I started right away once I got the wheel and it was a very messy attempt at handstands.

I could NOT figure out how to slowly lift my feet off the ground with grace and control like the amazing. I didn’t even feel a tiny bit of control in rising my feet off the ground. I attempted the donkey kicks up which gave me some confidence. It was a good work on the core for sure. I tried a few times until I gave up from exhaustion. My arm has a tension wrap to help from the pain when I do some arm balances.

Day 2 – this is where my “keep going” comes in. I got some feedback from Instagrammers who saw my struggle. Try placing feet on blocks, try placing hands closer to feet, keep the head a big higher on the block etc… To all those tips, thank you!

I tried placing my feet on my Feetup (which is another really cool prop) and I was able to have more control lifting my feet into a handstand and actually holding the handstand for more than 2 seconds. Yes! Filmed with my GoPro 6 below.

The moral of the story? Keep going, this is only the beginning for me and I hope to eventually get to that graceful control that I am so envious of! If you have any tips, please share below.

The wheel is a great prop for other exercises as well. Backbends, stretches and more.
