Handstand – Get the extra help with a yoga wheel

It is no secret that I love to go upside down. I love headstands but it just doesn’t feel great for my neck. I have the feetup which is awesome but I want to MASTER the handstand.

I’ve been practicing handstands and really saw an improvement when I started practicing away from the wall. Yes, I also fell more but I learned to fall correctly.

Then I practiced handstands every day. It is a work out. Your shoulders and arms will put in work, I promise. I can float in a handstand for a length of time I cannot foresee. Also, I have good days where the handstands are super easy peasy and tough days. How does one improve on holding the handstand longer???

Then came the yoga wheel. This has greatly improved me hanging upside down and working to stack and straighten everything out. This is where the work is and I love it. I feel strong, empowered and free. At first it was tough to jump the feet and hang upside down. I’m sure a lot of it had to do with fear. With the yoga wheel, I can hold the handstand and practice over and over until fatigue kicks in.

I decided to make a tutorial video of how I practice at home. I’ve mentioned in earlier posts but I’m trying to learn videography, lighting and editing. I kind of feel like I suck at each one but it is actually a fun process learning. Check it out. My next goal is to learn how to do voice overs so I can do less words on the video.

Yoga Block: https://amzn.to/2RI0co8 ** I recommend not using the standard commonly seen foam blocks in most studios and using something more dense that will stop the wheel from moving.
