Days are getting longer, the long dark nights care starting to disappear. This makes me happy. The sun just makes me smile. That is why, I have decided to begin my practice outside on my semi private patio. I live in a one bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood. I love everything about my place. On Sunday (cleaning day), I began to rearrange my patio area where there used to be an area to sit and garden. Plus of course my piles of shoes that I’ve got going on out there.
I moved everything out of the way to make the most open space possible. I gently decorated it with colors and personal stones/rocks I’ve collected or have been gifted in the past.
Getting ready to practice on my patio! Gotta set up the cam!
My first pose! Probably should have warmed up first but I’ve really been practicing my back bends lately so this is the chosen pose for the morning. Also posted on Instagram. You can see that my back is taped up using KT tape or kinesthethic tape. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and my shoulder blade is a little wonky that is really throwing off some other parts of my body. This is not because of yoga but because of an accident I was in back in 2002. I didn’t heal properly from the accident and now I am facing some serious consequences. Yoga does help me get stronger, along with some of the weight training that I do at the gym. My chiropractor told me yesterday that he’ll have me doing inversions in no time and that made my day!
The pose (pictured above) is a variation of camel pose (ustrasana) and eagle arm pose (garudasana). I took a spin on the legs but taking my right knee in front of the left. I soon switched sides to balance out. Then with eagle arms, I engaged my core and leaned back for the bend.
Enjoy safely yogi’s~
