On a beautiful spring day my friend Jinah and I decided to go on a hike up in the Malibu area. Since we were already in the area, I suggested we also visit Lake Shrine since It’s been on my list of places I’d like to visit. Although a short visit, it is definitely a must. We went on a Sunday so it was a bit crowded as they do have service at the Temple. There are just some beautiful things to see here.

This is a Spiritual Sanctuary that created by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1950. I purchased the biography at the store but haven’t finished reading it yet. The book is called [xyz-ihs snippet=”Paramahansa-Yogananda”]
Parking is a bit challenging if you go on a weekend but I think many places in L.A. are like that. We didn’t have to park too far and all the attendants were super amazing and kind with our absence of the L.A. parking know-how.
There is no cost to enter the lake area and walk around. There is a must visit gift shop. The shop has an exhibit of some artwork on Paramahansa Yogananda. Bathrooms near-by free to use and clean!
You can walk around and see the different icons with symbols of different belief systems on them. There are plenty of grass areas to sit and take in the scenery. Many benches to sit and meditate or view the lake and take in the scenery. There is a Mahatma Gandhi World Peace Memorial where some of his ashes are enshrined.
Head up the stairs to the temple if you’d like to look inside. Jinah and I did wander up there and although we were in obvious hiking type attire, nobody seemed to mind. Everyone else was in Sunday clothes (not sure how else to describe). After our peaceful visit here, we had the opportunity to drive south while seeing some ocean along the road. It was a pretty cool day!
