Highland Garden Hotel | 7047 FRANKLIN AVE. HOLLYWOOD, CA. 90028
Recently, I had a seminar to attend in Hollywood at the Loews Hotel. It is a fancy hotel and I opted to stay at a local hotel that was less fancy. I stayed at the Highland Gardens Hotel that is within a 6 minute walk to Hollywood and Highland which is a busy intersection in Hollywood. About 10 minutes walk to watch Jimmy Kimmel live and a short drive to the Hollywood Bowl.
After some research, some hotels were sketchy due to the fraud, some were under par because of the neighborhood but the Highland Gardens Hotel was an in between. The hotel is one or two short blocks from the Magic Castle & Hotel. It is also down the hill from the sushi restaurant with a great view called Yamashiro Hollywood. I opted out of the Magic Castle (you need reservation and it is like tuxedo fancy) and went to Shintaro instead. Their reviews were much better on their food and a short 8 minute walk. My friend did not think it was a short walk, but he doesn’t walk anywhere.
Highland Gardens Hotel has had their share of famous guests and you see many of their photos posted behind the check-in desk. Their parking is free for one car and felt safe enough in my opinion. I got a room on the first floor with the back patio door to a small patio area. The wifi was non existent even though I had 4 choices to choose from, none of them worked. That was the only negative I had. Also, the bathroom is small and functional however you have to shut the bathroom door in order to be able to open the shower door and get in. Not a big deal since it was a room just for me.
The hotel is was previously known as the Hollywood Landmark Hotel. They have a designed suite that has been filmed as well. I did not stay in the suite. The staff was friendly and I had no problems (minus the wifi not being available in my room).
