I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the news. I haven’t ever been a regular news watcher or reader. Now that I’m solely working from home, there is a lack of conversations with associates which disconnects me from the world happenings. I used to get my news from people I interact with at work. Now I listen to the NPR radio when I drive (which is seldom) and read news on the Internet. News can be depressing, especially lately with the devastations going on internationally. It seems like you turn on the news or read the Internet only to hear about another bombing or another shooting.
Amongst those there are positive and as important news not related to crimes. Below I share two different but simple (and free) ways to get the daily low down.
Do you want someone to read the daily news for you and give you only the highlights? Sign up to receive daily emails via The Skimm and they’ll give you the highlights of the important stuff. The Skimm doesn’t just have local news, they highlight international news also and even have the skinny on the presidential race. Unfortunately, there is no app in the google play for The Skimm but going to the website was really easy.
The email provides a brief, easy to read highlight. If I want to know more, I look up the particular event or happening to get further information.
Want more news for your time? My other go-to resource for the news is Aljazeera America. They claim to be the unbiased fact based news (again U.S. & international news). So far, from my experience, I like their delivery of news.
